The Heffron Difference

A service department built like a flagship.

Our service business isn’t an afterthought to construction — it’s a 50-person operation with its own leadership, fleet, and dispatch protocols, designed for clients who can’t afford downtime.

24/7 Live Dispatch

Real Heffron staff answer the phone — no third-party call centers, no scripts.

Tenured Technicians

Average tenure of 12+ years. Many came up through the UA Local 602 apprenticeship.

EMR 0.57 Safety

An MCAA/CNA Safety Excellence Award track record carried into every service call.

Self-Performed

Mechanical, plumbing, controls, and rigging — all under the Heffron payroll.

Facility Running 24/7?

Our Service division keeps mission-critical mechanical systems running — from preventive maintenance through overnight emergency dispatch.

Service in Action

Inside the work — moments from the field.

Real Heffron technicians, real mission-critical facilities. Hover any frame to reveal the story.
Rooftop Walkdown

Rooftop Walkdown

Rooftop Walkdown

Quarterly inspection of a packaged rooftop AHU bank.

Three-person preventive sweep — gas trains, condenser fans, and energy-recovery hoods checked before peak season.

Rooftop Coverage

Rooftop Coverage

Rooftop Coverage

Service that spans the full rooftop campus.

The work is bigger than one penthouse — Heffron techs move across the entire rooftop plant to keep every connected system in sequence.

Mech Room Sweep

Mech Room Sweep

A full lap of a life-sciences central plant.

Pumps, heat exchangers, boilers, and pressure-independent valves — verified line by line on every visit.

Controls Diagnostics

Controls Diagnostics

Controls Diagnostics

Schematic in one hand, multimeter in the other.

BMS troubleshooting from our senior service techs — backed by the as-built drawings we helped produce.

Hydronic Isolation

Hydronic Isolation

Hydronic Isolation

Two hands on the handwheel, eyes on the gauge.

Isolating a chilled-water riser for service — the kind of careful, in-person work mission-critical plants depend on.

Drive Room

Drive Room

Drive Room

VFD room walkthrough, cabinet open.

Variable-speed drives are mission-critical service work too — inspected where the pumping logic, power, and controls actually live.

Cooling Towers

Cooling Towers

Cooling Towers

Cooling towers, inspected as part of the route.

Open-air equipment still needs close attention — condenser-water piping, tower access, and cooling hardware walked just like the indoor plant.

Central Plant

Central Plant

Central Plant

CHW supply, HHW pumps, in one room.

Hot- and chilled-water plants share the same mechanical room — and the same Heffron tech walking both loops on every visit.

Energy Recovery

Energy Recovery

Energy Recovery

Konvekta energy recovery, verified live.

Performance data and pipework, side by side — confirming that the heat-recovery loop is delivering the savings it was designed for.

In Memoriam

Remembering Our Own

The Heffron service team is built on the people who came before us. We carry their craftsmanship, their character, and their care for clients into every call we answer.
Jonathan Boyd
Senior Vice President of Service

Jonathan Boyd

Heffron Company · 2003 – Present in our memory

Jonathan joined Heffron in January 2003 as a UA Local 602 Steamfitter-Helper and spent his career rising through the trade — overhauling centrifugal chillers, rebuilding cooling towers, and solving the toughest HVAC challenges across the MD/DC/VA region.

As Senior Vice President of Service, Jon led a team of more than 50 technicians serving Biotech, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, and Commercial clients. His commitment to the values of this fourth-generation family business is the standard our department still measures itself against.

Mark Hancock
Service Technician · 1998 – 2003

Mark Hancock

1978 – 2003

A permanent member of the Heffron service team. Mark’s craftsmanship, his quiet dedication to his clients, and the way he carried himself on every call set a standard that has outlasted his years with us.

More than two decades later, his name is still spoken in our shop — a reminder of why this work, and the people who do it, matter.

"Gone from the field. Never gone from the family."
